I think of games like Journey and Shadow of the Colossus but perhaps I'm misremembering something obvious or haven't been looking in the correct places.ĭid you enjoy this game when it came out? Did you enjoy this remaster and do you miss the more linear style of adventure titles like this? It made me think a lot of what was truly the last AAA project on a console that truly tried to do something different like this artistically. This hooked me immediately more than a lot of games are these days. I also think it holds up remarkably well gameplay wise, it's a little easy so far but it's not as obtuse as I was expecting for a game of that era and it has a lot of charm. I just want to make every dark object turn into beautiful colour.
I was initially very hesitant to try this because of the graphical style but after about an hour or so: I cannot get over how lovely this looks. I still love the open world style mind you but sometimes in open world the focus is lost. It's a strange thing to say but I'm starting to understand where a minority of Zelda fans are coming from when they say they'd like a more traditional Zelda game going forward as this is quite similar. I think I have burned myself out with open world games like Assassin's Creed Origins, Horizan Zero Dawn and Breath of the Wild so it was really refreshing to go back a more linear style of adventure game.

I had never played this before on the PS2 but this was going cheap on the January PS4 sales so I said I'd pick this up. I've been playing this for over 9 hours now and I have to say I'm loving this.
